OFFSHORE SUPPLY VESSEL ROV DECK STRUCTURAL FEA
Reference Project; OFFSHORE SUPPLY VESSEL ROV DECK STRUCTURAL FEA (FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS)
Project Overvıew
A newly installed elevated deck was intended to support ROV operations on board an offshore supply vessel. Since no detailed drawings were available, on-site measurements were carried out and the platform was recreated using reverse engineering techniques.
The vessel structure was modelled from frame section drawings, while the ROV deck and equipment arrangement were developed from site survey data. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) was performed to evaluate the complete load transfer path from the ROV equipment through the support deck and into the vessel structure.
The analysis confirmed that the ROV support deck had sufficient strength and stiffness for the applied loads. However, a local structural deficiency was identified beneath one support column. A reinforcement solution was therefore developed to ensure safe load transfer and structural integrity.
